2018 Polaris Slingshot SLR LE Review – Polaris announced the 2018 Slingshot range including a new limited edition Polaris Slingshot SLR LE version. Slingshot base rate is now known as Slingshot S, and the price of the two-grand drop becomes $ 19,999. It carries the three-wheeled line 2018 to four models: Slingshot S, Slingshot SL, Slingshot SLR and new SLingshot SL.
The major update for 2018 is the new Ride Command infotainment system. Optional accessories on the S model but standard on others, Ride Command system includes 7-inch multi-touch screen with Bluetooth connectivity, phone integration, USB and customizable information screen. In Polaris Slingshot SLR LE, Ride Command includes turn-by-turn navigation (Slingshot S and SL owners can purchase navigation features as optional add-ons).

All Polaris Slingshot are powered by a 2384cc four-cylinder motor sourced from Saturn’s owner Sky and the old Pontiac Solstice GM Will recognize it. The DOHC plant is not too loud, but its 166 lb-ft crankshaft torque is plenty to cover its single rear tire, which is coated in width on the 2018 Polaris Slingshot SLR LE to 305mm. Polaris uses its own ECU tuner to extend the engine rotation ceiling to a fairly high rpm of 7200 rpm, with 173 hp peaking at 6,200 rpm.
So, no wheelies here, but some very impressive steps in Canyon Latigo and surrounding areas. It turns out with a bend or a middle gravel that will frighten the ignored motorist without worrying with Slingshot, because the front tire 225 / 45-18 will never be folded and threaten the survival of your clavicle structure.
While it does not sound like a ton, it is a solid amount for that weighs 1,700 pounds. With a width of 150 inches and a width of more than 77, Slingshot is shorter than the base of the Mini Cooper, wider than the Lamborghini Gallardo, and lighter than the Smart car. Its height is only 51 inches, and the top 12 is its sugar rod. Slingshot sits on three Kenda SS-799 tires, the front is 225/45 R18 and rear-sized 305/30 R20. It also comes with power steering, electronic stability control, anti-lock brakes, and traction control which, fortunately, can be turned off – but we’ll get there.
Steering is actually one of the biggest improvements between the latest generation Polaris Slingshot SLR LE and the first I drove two years ago. Initially, Slingshot feels like a Ural sidecar motorcycle because it does not want to be tracked in a straight line and requires constant adjustment to stay on track on the highway.
